Welcome to my Folkengates 09 page. We have some great acts booked this year and will have a fantastic day of music, we just need some sunny weather.

This years line up.

Daylevel

Daylevel bring a crisp new sound to suit all tastes with the voices and guitars of Brian Carrington and Sally Tonge.

Brian and Sally met in the backroom of the local boozer at a music session and quickly discovered much common ground in musical tastes and a desire to make a beautiful sound.

Developing their gentle yet powerful approach to songs old and new has been their work for the past year or so and now they seek listening ears and friendly audiences for their repertoire.

Geoff Rodgers

Geoff is 51 years old, (but the man who guesses your age at the seaside always gets it wrong), and he lives in Lincolnshire. He has made quite a name for himself as a folk singer, performer and songwriter on the folk club, local pub and festival circuit.

Formerly part of the popular duo, "bit on the side", who made one CD, "Running through the heart" featuring 6 of Geoff's own songs, he is now mostly performing solo.

Tarragon

In a relatively short time, Trevor and Lin have quickly gained a reputation for performing traditional and traditional style songs and tunes with flair and a sense of fun. Their growing repertoire is bolstered by their own compositions that draw upon local legends and history.

Between them, Lin and Trevor play a vast array of instruments. Hammered dulcimer, auto-harp, melodeon, keyboard, bodhran, guitar, bouzouki and mandolin are all used at some time or another. Sorry, I forgot to mention flute and whistles as well!

Terry Pitt heard them at Common Folk one evening and asked if they wanted to make a CD. They thought about it for about 5 seconds with the result that their first CD "The Devil Drinks Merlot" is now available. .

Well, you should know who we are by now. If you don't, have a look round this site.

Nothing to Prove

Guinness, hard work and attention to detail has resulted in Nothing to Prove becoming firm favourites at local clubs and festivals.

Nothing to Prove has developed a well-crafted and individual take to traditional, contemporary and self-penned songs. They have developed the happy knack of judging what their audience wants and then supplying it with both barrels. If it is either quiet, thought-provoking lyrics or wake you up folk rock that you want then Nothing to Prove is the band for you!

Their debut album, "Open Verdict" is a well constructed statement of how far the band have come since their early beginnings. It features a strong mixture of songs which have proved to be favourites at the Woodman and other venues where Nothing To Prove have performed.

2 Blokes from Coseley

2 Blokes from Coseley are exactly that - 2 blokes from Coseley in The Black Country. For those of you who don't know Coseley, it's a little place between Dudley and Wolverhampton in the West Midlands, England. The Duo play a mixture of Pop / Rock / Blues and Folk, on acoustic instruments, and never use any backing tracks. The Duo have been together for the past three years, in which time they have played numerous gigs, done a Live Radio session for The BBC, recorded their first album, and in 2007 played at The Baggeridge Folk Festival.

Pete Vickers: Vocals / Acoustic Guitar / Acoustic Bass

Lloyd Caswell: Vocals / Acoustic Guitar / Banjo / Mandolin
