Please note that we don't have one in August (Cos it's holiday time) and the
September one is a week earlier than normal because there is a Beer Festival on at the end of the month.
If you'd like to come and play, please Email me.
I've changed the way you can book your slot at the Open Mic Nights. You can pick up a copy from The Crown or you can view it here
The Crown Inn Open Mic Night
Hi Everyone
First, the good news. I'm very pleased to say that Clare and I will be hosting the Open mics for the
forseeable future. They've been fun to do and it's great to think that will continue.
So, what's the bad news? Many real ale drinkers in Oakengates have been looking forward to the re-opening of "The Old Fighting Cocks". The clip below was taken from the Ironbridge Brewery website. I think they're not keen on Open Mic Nights. I sort of know where he's coming from but I think that Musicians coming together for an evening of music deserve a bit more respect. Anyway, he has told me that should I want to take my guitar in and play a few songs, I can, until someone complains. ( I can almost hear you saying "that won't take long") but it sounds fair to me.
However, it's nice to see the pub open again and they have made a good job of it. I wish them every success.
